I’m at the store’s checkout. Someone in front of me is getting a carton of milk and some bread. He doesn’t have quite enough money, but the cashier won’t take it. I gave him the coins he needed to buy what he wanted. He said thank you and ran away.
I find $50 in the courtyard in the morning. This happens to me a lot. I get a reward every time I do something good.
In my area, today was the first blizzard of the season. I got to work early this morning, and one of the guys who drives the plough was shovelling our front sidewalk. He looked so cold and sad that I asked him if he wanted coffee and then brought him a cup.
Later, when I got home from work, I found out that I was stuck. I drive a small, front-wheel-drive, subcompact car that isn’t very strong, and I don’t have my snow tires on yet. Even though the parking lot was ploughed twice today, there was still more than 8 inches of snow behind my car.
I had to call my parents to come help me because all of my coworkers were gone. At that moment, that same guy came and helped me get my car unstuck so I could go home.
The window of the car was left open. I taped up the window so that the snow wouldn’t get in.

Someone left the car window open. I taped up the window so that snow didn’t get inside.

My husband has a friend from when he was a kid. My husband used to help this friend out about 30 years ago by giving him his clothes and trainers so he could go on a date with a girl. His friend said he would give him Jordans when he got rich. At the time, no one believed it.
But over time, this friend became very famous and rich. He also gave my husband some rare and valuable Jordans.
When I was in college, I cleaned floors in an office part-time at night. There was this guy who always stayed late, and I sometimes gave him cookies. He liked it, and we would talk every now and then.
I lost my job later and didn’t have any money. That man helped me get a job as an administrator with a friend of his. The pay was good, and the hours worked for me.
We didn’t see each other very often after that, but I was very thankful. Back then, I wouldn’t have been able to live on my scholarship alone because my parents were so far away.
The first floor of Old Istanbul Airport. There was a nice view of the tarmac from the balcony that opened up to the cafeteria. When I asked for tea, the waiter asked if I wanted Turkish tea or English tea. I told him I liked Turkish tea.
He then asked me where I was going, and I said country X. “You won’t be able to get good tea there.” Not English, not Turkish, nothing at all. “Take these with you.”
He took two boxes of tea and gave them to me. I wanted to pay for them, but he said, “No, you’ll be sad without your tea.” Take them and come back. I did put all of my money in the tip box, yes.
The flight was three hours late, so the pilot went around to everyone and took their Starbucks orders. Then he got us about 40 drinks and 50 food items.

Daria works at the serving counter in the industrial area’s canteen. She missed the bus about two months ago; it left right in front of her. The bus only comes every two hours, so it’s not easy to leave.
I stopped and told her to get in because I could at least give her a ride to the city. She got in, and we started talking. It turns out that her house is only half a block away from where I was going. I took her there.
The portions of goulash or pilaf at this canteen have gotten so big that I don’t even need to eat soup anymore.
I worked in a grocery store. It was hard to see old people count out every last coin just to buy milk and bread.
I would tell them quietly that there was a sale that day and then add money to the register from my own pocket. I couldn’t keep up in the end. I told the manager everything and thought the worst would happen.
He looked at me and said, “You’re not going anywhere.” There aren’t many people like you. “You’re going to be the branch manager, and we’re going to treat those customers right.”
We started giving seniors discounts every week in all of our stores. I can’t believe that my small act of kindness changed everything.
I went to the bank to get some cash because I wanted to buy my sister a gift, but the store only took cash. When I walk in, there’s a queue. A very long queue.
I wait patiently and watch an older woman in front of me talk to the cashier. Her wallet suddenly slips out of her hands and falls. I picked it up and gave it back to her right away.
She thanked me and tried to pay me back with some money. Of course, I said no, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer. She shoved the bill into my pocket, and that was that. I took the money out of the bank, left, and went to buy the gift when it was finally my turn.
When I got to the store, I went to buy it, but I was $5 short. I reached into my pocket and found the $5 bill that the old lady had given me. People really do get rewarded for doing good things.

My husband’s former teacher

The teacher who used to teach my husband lives in our flat building. My husband and I always help her, whether it’s driving her where she needs to go, buying her groceries, or cleaning.
This is because my husband grew up in a poor family where his parents worked a lot and didn’t have much time for him. So, the teacher always helped him with his homework and sometimes fed him when his parents were gone for a long time. She was like a second mum to him.
And she didn’t charge his parents a dime for any of this. She always told my husband that we should be nice to each other because she is helping him now and someday he will help someone else in the same way. It’s like a domino effect.
And it turned out that she was right. In the end, my husband did help her. Her kindness came back around.

I was having a hard time 9 years ago. I broke up with my girlfriend, and even my own family blamed me for it. I was really sad, but one guy really helped me. We made friends on social media.
He asked me for advice on IT jobs a while ago. I worked in IT, but there weren’t any jobs open at our company. But I told my boss to hire this guy as soon as he could. And now, a few months later, he’s working with us.

I ran out of salt. I went to the store and found this little miracle waiting for me near the door. I took it because it was so cold outside. It turned out to be a very smart cat. It scratches nothing, knows the litter box, climbs onto your lap, and purrs.

I saw a purse that someone had left in a cart outside a store where I used to work. I opened the purse against policy and found a name. I then called the woman, and it was her purse. She was very upset that she couldn’t find it.
I waited at the store after hours for her to come by and pick up the purse. She also gave me an envelope to open when I got home, which turned out to be almost exactly how much I needed for rent: $120.
I used to work in a bank’s collections department. We would call people who owed us money and were late on their payments and try to get them to pay as soon as possible. It was a stressful job with no chance of moving up in the company. I made the choice to leave.
The management came to the morning meeting and told me that a client had called the call center to thank me. I only had 2–3 days left until my last day. They went on to say, “We don’t even know if we should yell at you or praise you because this has never happened in 5 years.”
The story was that a man bought electronics on a consumer loan. The loan had a condition that there would be no penalty for the first five days of being late, but starting on day six, a $5 fee would be charged, and another penalty would be charged if the loan was still unpaid by the end of the month. The man thought he had paid off his loan, but he still owed 50 cents. The bank waited five days, charged a $5 fine, and then started asking for payment.
The man was shocked because he thought he had paid for everything and then told everyone to leave. On the 34th day, I called him and, even though he was swearing, we worked out the problem. I told him that if he didn’t pay off the debt today, he would get another penalty on the 35th day, so it was better to do it now. The man heard and paid his bill.
Management tried to get me to stay after this happened, but I said no. But they made an exception and gave me a bonus for the last month of work, which is not something that people who are leaving usually get. It was a nice surprise!
You take care of the kids first, and then they take care of you. I am taking care of the kids by myself. They brought me toys to bed today and said, “Daddy, it’s for you so you won’t be scared.”
We had been together for ten years, bought a house together, and then broke up. I couldn’t afford the mortgage payments by myself, so I asked a friend to move in with me.
Things went well at first, but then he lost his job and had his car taken back. I ended up paying for both of our utilities and the mortgage. In the end, he left for another city, leaving me with a lot of money. I was naturally angry, but I forgave him because I knew he didn’t have a choice.

And then, three years later, he paid me back for three months’ worth of rent. He was so embarrassed that he let me down that he did it through a friend we both know.
A family I knew was renting a flat from an old man. He lived close by and could move around. But he asked them to help him by cleaning and cooking for him. In exchange, he would give them ownership of his two apartments. They said yes.
The old man died a year later, and now they have two apartments.

walking with my wife,
walking with my wife,

Today, we were walking with my wife, and saw people nearby giving out flowers. We thought it was a nice thing to do, so we brought them some food that night, and they were very grateful.
My friend and I found a waist bag on the street a week ago. We slowly unzip it, and inside are a bunch of bills folded in half and some receipts. We figured out that our neighbours on the first floor had lost it by looking at the receipts. I went on social media and found the phone number of my neighbour.
I called, and the neighbours didn’t even know they had lost the bag! But they came about 15 minutes later, happy and shocked. They gave my friend and me $100. It turned out that their kid had dropped the bag by mistake while getting out of the car.
The neighbours sent me a message later to say thank you. They also said that they had recently found a wallet full of papers and cash and returned it to the people who owned it. But the most interesting part is that the kindness boomerang didn’t stop there.
My dad calls and says he was driving to Grandma’s house in another city. He stopped at a petrol station to eat and left his bag with money, his driving licence, other papers, cards and phones on the table. He didn’t realise it until he got to Grandma’s house.
I was so worried that I called his phone, even though I knew it was in the bag. There was a woman who answered. She had found the bag at the petrol station and put it behind the counter so no one could steal it. So we went and got it.

People who deserve good things always seem to get them. The universe doesn’t always move quickly.
